1. Park and Walk

One of the most common clichés mentioned when discussing convenient ways to lose weight without exercise is to park your car some distance from your destination and then walk. There is a lot of truth to this method of physical activity without actually exercising. The further you park from your workplace, grocery store or place of business the more calories you will burn as you walk. If you add up the calories burned over time, the results may be astounding.

2. Portion Control

Cutting back on the portions you normally consume on a daily basis can dramatically decrease calories and as a result, cause you to lose weight without exercise. If you think about it, cutting your portions in half means that you are consuming half your normal number of calories.

Portions can be determined by the amount of food that would fit into the palm of your hand. Measuring and weighing your food out is the most accurate way to restrict portions, but simply eye-balling the amounts works if in moderation.

3. Drink Water

Studies show that most of the time when people experience hunger, they are really thirsty. A fasting day full of protein shakes and no solids is a great way to lose weight without exercise. While this is not a habit you want to start on a daily basis, it provides a quick means of shedding some water weight and inches off the midriff if done for a day or two. Limiting the solids allows your digestive system to rest, while increasing your body’s insulin sensitivity. Fasting with liquid protein shakes that have little to no sugar is an excellent way to prevent your body from becoming insulin resistant.

6. Increase the Protein

Protein fills you up and keeps your physique looking lean and firm. Protein is satiating and keeps you fuller longer so that you are less susceptible to cheating on snack foods or sugary sweets. Also, your body has to work harder at breaking protein down which means that the more protein you eat the more calories are burned.

7. Take the Stairs

If you want to lose weight without exercise, you will need to eliminate your elevator and escalator rides. You can get a great workout without actually “working out” if you take the stairs up to your office instead of the elevator. Burning these additional calories each day will provide you with heart healthy benefits and a few less pounds. Be consistent and don’t give up, no matter how tough it is at first.

8. Eat Small Meals

Instead of consuming large and heavy meals two to three times a day, opt for five to six small meals of approximately 300-400 calories each. There is no need to starve yourself, but cutting portions and calories and spreading the meals out evenly throughout the day will give your metabolism a much needed boost.
