Do Raisins Make You Poop?

Raisins are a great source of dietary fiber and contain both soluble and insoluble fibers.  With both of these types of fiber involved, raisins really do make you poop.  Here’s why.

Raisins are high in fiber and antioxidants.  They are very beneficial to the body in that they promote a smooth transition of food through the digestive tract.  Eating raisins promotes regular bowel movements and an increased rate of travel through the intestinal tract.  The dietary fiber found in raisins actually cleanses the bowels and keeps the colon cleaned out.

In just one cup of raisins there are about 10 grams of dietary fiber, which is considered a high amount for fruits or other food products. Constipation can be eliminated and regular bowel movements achieved through the regular consumption of raisins.  This means that eating just a handful of raisins each day can help relieve constipation and promote a healthy intestinal tract.

Raisins also contain antioxidants that are great for removing toxins from the body.  Healthy problems such as acne and colon cancer can be prevented through the increased consumption of fiber containing products – like raisins.

Fiber is good for the system and keeps the intestinal tract clean and free of constipation.  Since raisins do make you poop it is wise to watch the amount you consume at one sitting and keep the amount within moderation.
