Chicken fried rice is a favorite side dish served at restaurants. It combines rice and chicken all added together in a wok and cooked up with some oil. Sounds tasty! But how many calories in chicken fried rice are there?
One cup of chicken fried rice has a staggering 330 calories in it! It also has 12 grams of fat, 42 grams of carbs, 12.5 grams of protein and 600 mg of sodium.
Now we know why it tastes so dang good. All of those calories and fat do taste great, but if you are trying to lose weight this is one of the worst foods you can eat. Why? Because it is high in fat and carbs. That means unless you go right to the gym and work out after your meal (yeah right) all of those calories are going right to your waistline.
Chicken fried rice has no redeeming qualities other than taste. It is basically void of nutrition. White rice may be fat free but it is pretty bad for you. It is a high glycemic carb that causes the blood sugar to spike. In other words, you get a quick boost of energy followed by a crash.
That’s why people that eat a big plate of Chinese food including chicken fried rice feel like they need to take about a three hour nap.
