Is the gym the last place on earth you want to be?  Do you have trouble committing to cardio?  Without exercise, it is virtually impossible to gain the fitness result you desire.  To improve your physical output and health, you have to get pumped about working out.

Let’s face it; hours on the treadmill can get laborious and downright boring.  Below are some great ways on motivating yourself to exercise that will pull you into the gym even when you don’t feel like it.

1.    Workout music makes exercise fun

Playing the right workout music can make all the difference in the speed and impact of the regimen.  Using an MP3 or iPod to play some of your favorite music is a great way to get pumped about working out.  No longer will cardio sessions be boring when you have your preselected music to play.

Some people opt for podcasts or even movies, while others prefer music that is upbeat and gets them moving.  It is amazing how much harder you’ll work when the right song is pumping through the sound system.

2.    You feel better after your workout

One of the leading reasons that can get you motivated to exercise isn’t the workout itself, but how you feel afterward.  Working out causes chemicals to be released in the body.  These chemicals are called endorphins.

Endorphins, according to the Mayo Clinic, actually cause a positive feeling throughout the body similar to the properties found in morphine.  Studies reveal that when a person works out regularly stress is reduced, their self-esteem is boosted and their sleep is improved.  You reap the positive benefits of exercise hours afterward.

3.    You increase oxygen flow

Physical activity is a wonderful way to increase blood flow and expel more oxygen to the brain.  A key benefit to working out is getting the oxygen flowing through the body.  The brain’s main fuel is oxygen, so to get more of it is excellent for the body.

When a person exercises blood begins to flow naturally throughout the system.  Blood flow is increased and the amount of oxygen required by the brain is also increased.  Exercising helps to refuel the brain and improves a rather lethargic person with an overload of energy.  Research shows that people who exercise regularly have more efficient brains.  That is, they are able to focus longer and produce more work without getting tired in the process.

4.     You know that calories were burned

Another reason to get pumped about working out is that your body will burn more calories during each and every workout.  Depending on your body weight, the activity performed and the intensity level, you will burn a particular number of calories.  The harder you work out, the more calories will be burned.

The number of calories burned and the number of calories consumed is directly related to weight loss.  The more calories you burn the more likely you are to lose weight, barring a number of other factors.  A person who works out a high intensity is typically working harder than someone who is not working out as hard.  In this case, hard work pays off.  The harder you work at exercising, the more calories you will burn.

5.    You remove toxins

One of the primary reasons to get pumped about working out for some is to remove toxins and impurities from the body.  The body is designed to repair itself and keep organs purified and operating correctly.  When you exercise, you improve the body’s detoxification process.  Exercise accelerates detoxification through an increase in blood and lymph circulation.

When people exercise, they also increase their oxygen intake.  People have a tendency to inhale and exhale more deeply when exercising than when at rest.  By inhaling more oxygen, cells in the body work better and perform their jobs more effectively.  One of the main jobs performed is to rid toxins from the body.  Many experts report that exercise improves the body’s immune system and gives it the boost needed to ward off sickness, the flu and colds.  Many people who work out regularly get sick less than those who do not work out.
